America, The Beautiful by: Katharine Lee Bates, 1913

This weeks Tuesday Tales prompt word is "Mountain."

In light of this and because of it being Tuesday, September 11th. I couldn't quite let this day pass without paying homage to all those who lost their lives on 9-11-01.  You see for those of us who live in the areas of the attacks and lost loved ones were personally affected. As well as people throughout the world who had loved ones here on vacation or business.  But also, as an entire nation our world was shaken.  Not since Pearl Harbor did an enemy attack us so brutally on our own soil.

So, since I along with many, many others around the world am truly in a somber place each year, trying to remember our loved one. The way they smiled, laughed, cried....LIVED and we refuse to forget them. We refuse to let go of their memory. We refuse to ever, let this happen again.

I pray for our world leaders that they make the right decisions and keep the people that follow them in their thoughts as they do so.  I pray that all the soldiers are given a sense of comfort when they are protecting our freedoms and liberties.  Their jobs are probably the hardest of all. They sacrafice all so that we can live free. I pray that they return home to their loved ones safe and unharmed.

I love my country,The United States of America!  I am a patriot of the greatest nation. God Bless America!

And so I leave you with these lyrics, which include the word "mountain":

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern impassion'd stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America! God mend thine ev'ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev'ry gain divine!

O Beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam,
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Thank you for posting this Tai. Being a New Yorker, I was right there in the mist of things. It was a sad time for New Yorkers, a sad time for America. Not only did we lose so many people on 9/11 but in the years following soldiers have lost their lives defending our country, our freedom.

A special thank you to all our men and women serving our country. God Bless America.

  2. I along with many others remember that day far to well. I still get a sick feeling in my stomach. A few friends and family members were directly affected and I can't imagine forgetting.

  3. This was beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Do you live in the area of NYC? I live in New Jersey, I had friends and family near there that day. Fortunately, they were only detained in the city and not harmed, but it was a day like no other. Thank you again for posting this. You should re post each September 11th.
